Given: A B C , A B = B C = A C
ВD - bisector
Find:AB
Solution:
in an equilateral triangle, the bisector is the median\Rightarrow
AD=DC=1/2AB
In A D B, according to the Pythagorean theorem:
A B 2 = A D 2 + B D 2
A B 2 = 1 / 4 A B 2 + 121 3
3 / 4 A B 2 = 363
A B 2 = 363 4 / 3 = 484
A B = 484 = 22
