You might have missed cos x = 0
3 cos x cot x + sin 2 x = 0
3 cos x cos x sin x + 2 sin x cos x = 0
3 cos 2 x + 2 sin 2 x cos x = 0
cos x ( 3 cos x + 2 sin 2 x ) = 0
cos x ( 3 cos x + 2 2 cos 2 x ) = 0

Hint: Use sin 2 x = 1 cos 2 x then
2 cos 2 x + 3 cos x + 2 = 0
take y = cos x
