Here we see, 
f(x)=(x)2=x2=f(x) 
So f (x) is an even function.

It is said that a function g(x) is an odd function if: g(x)=g(x), for all x. 
For example, 
g(x)=x3 
Here we see, 
g(x)=(x)3=x3=g(x) 
So g(x) is an odd function of x.
