(f =-50.0 mm)
focal-length lens must an object be placed if its image is to be magnified (M=- 2.00) and be real
M=(v/-u)
v=-u·M=2u
Object distance (u) = 
Image distance (v)=2u
Focal length (f)=+ 5.0 cm
Since
1f=1v-1-u
15.0=12u-1-u
u=7.50 cm
b) if its image is to be magnified (M=+2.00) and be virtual
M=v-u
v=-u·M=-2u
Object distance (u) = 
Image distance ( v ) = - 2u
Focal length ( f ) = + 5.0 cm
Since
