The distance sound travels from the sensor at the top of the tank to the water surface and back is
340 m s 1 × 4 × 10 3 s = 1.36 m
Thus, the distance from the top of the tank to the water surface is
1.36 m 2 = 0.68 m
The water level in the tank is 5m-0.68m=4.32m
