n = 1 ( 1 2 n 1 ) = n = 0 ( 1 2 n ) = n = 0 ( 1 2 ) n
And so we have a geometric series:
a + a r + a r 2 + a r 3 + a r 4 + = n = 0 a r n = a 1 r | r | < 1
In your case, we have that a=1, giving us a sum 1 1 r , with r = 1 2 < 1
