Step 1
1 Nickel = $ 0.05
1 Quarter = $ 0.25
Let nickels be in x no's and Quarter be y.
so, x + y = 25
0.05 x + 0.25 y = 3.05
So, 0.05 ( 25 y ) + 0.25 y = 3.05
1.25 0.05 y + 0.25 y = 3.05
0.20 y = 1.8
y = 1.8 0.2 = 9
x = 25 9 = 16
Answer: Nickel = 16, Quarter = 9
