1 x + 1 y 1 x 2 1 y 2 = 1 x + 1 y ( 1 x + 1 y ) ( 1 x 1 y ) = 1 1 x 1 y = 1 y x x y = x y y x

First write 1 x + 1 y = y x y + x x y = x + y x y
Then write 1 x 2 1 y 2 = y 2 x 2 y 2 x 2 x 2 y 2 = y 2 x 2 x 2 y 2 = ( y x ) ( x + y ) x 2 y 2
Therefore
1 x + 1 y 1 x 2 1 y 2 = x + y x y ( y x ) ( x + y ) x 2 y 2 = x + y x y x 2 y 2 ( y x ) ( x + y ) = ( x + y ) x 2 y 2 x y ( x + y ) ( y x ) = x y y x
