Rank of a matrix:
The most number of linearly independent row vectors in a matrix is its rank.
The rank of a matrix Am×n is denoted by rank(A).Rank 1 matrix:
If every column in the matrix is a multiple of the first column, then it has rank 1.

Example:A=123369
Three square submatrices of A are:
A1=1236,A2=1339,A3=2369
Every square submatrix has a determinant of 0.. So, the rank of the matrix is less than 2.
Hence, the rank of the matrix A is 1.
