Transverse waves are waves whose propagation path is perpendicular to the direction of vibration of particles in a medium. Transverse waves include electromagnetic waves (including light waves). Longitudinal waves are waves in which the direction of the wave's propagation coincides with the direction in which particles vibrate in a medium. Longitudinal waves are surface waves.
Answer is the sound waves in air are longitudinal while the light waves are transverse.
