Transparent materials allow light to pass through them. The colors of light can be combined in equal amounts to create white light, and when there is no light at all, true black is produced. The colours of pigment, on the other hand, are chemicals that absorb and reflect certain wavelengths of light. Colours of pigment are created by the absorption and reflection of light of media. True black cannot be created properly by pigments because no chemical absorbs 100% of all light.
