The distance between to points ( x 1 , x 2 , x 3 ) and ( y 1 , y 2 , y 3 ) in the 3-dimensional space is ( x 1 - y 1 ) 2 + ( x 2 - y 2 ) 2 + ( x 3 - y 3 ) 2
Now simply replacing ( x 1 , x 2 , x 3 ) and ( y 1 , y 2 , y 3 ) by the values given we have:
( - 2 + 1 ) 2 + ( 2 - 1 ) 2 + ( 6 - 3 ) 2 = ( - 1 ) 2 + ( 1 ) 2 + ( 3 ) 2 = 11
