Using the 3-d version of the distance formula
a a d = ( x 2 - x 1 ) 2 + ( y 2 - y 1 ) 2 + ( z 2 - z 1 ) 2 a a ̲ ¯
where ( x 1 , y 1 , z 1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 , z 2 ) are 2 coordinate points.
Here the 2 points are (-2 ,1 ,3) and (-6 ,3 ,1)
let ( x 1 , y 1 , z 1 ) = ( - 2 , 1 , 3 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 , z 2 ) = ( - 6 , 3 , 1 )
d = ( - 6 + 2 ) 2 + ( 3 - 1 ) 2 + ( 1 - 3 ) 2
= 16 + 4 + 4 = 24 = 4 × 6 = 2 6
