Step 1
In this problem we have to find area of rectangle and area of both the circles.
Then subtract area of circles from area of rectangle to get the area of shaded portion, because if we'll delete both the circles fr rectangle then we'll get only shaded portion.
Therefore we are going to delete area of circles from area of rectangle.
Observe, both the circles have same size.
Step 2
Note length of rectangle is 18 and there are two circles inside it.
Therefore we can see that sum of both the diameters of circles is equal to length of rectangle.
Therefore let's say diameter of circles are x.
Therefore, x+x=18
Therefore, 2x=18
Therefore, x=9.
Therefore, diameter of one circle is 9 unit .
Therefore radius =diameter2.
Therefore radius =92=4.5
Therefore we have found radius of circles are 4.5
Not let's see what's is breadth of rectangle.
Breadth of rectangle is nothing but diameter of one circles which is equal to 9.
Therefore breadth of rectangle =9
Step 3
formula :
area of rectangle=length×breadth.
area of circle =πr2.
Therefore area of rectangle =18×9=162
Area of circle =π×(4.5)2
=63.62
Therefore area of two circles =2×63.62=127.24
Therefore area of shaded portion is equal to area of rectangle minus area of circles.
Therefore area of shaded portion
=162127.24
=34.76sq unit
