A vector is a quantity that must have both its magnitude and its direction defined in order to be fully understood.
When a body is moving, or when its velocity is greater than zero, it has kinetic energy. Kinetic Energy is essentially zero when velocity is 0.
Kinetic energy comes from:
where m = mass, v = velocity.
The square of the vector of velocity, which is a scalar quantity, converts it to a scalar quantity as well. Kinetic energy is a scalar as a result.
