Based on the sample size, the sample is known as a large sample or a small sample.
A sample of 30 or more is considered a large sample and otherwise it is a small sample.
For a large sample, we make use of the Binomial distribution, Normal distribution for testing purposes.
For a small sample, we use the t-distribution, the Chi-square distribution, the F-distribution etc for testing purposes.
Hence the size of the sample tells us what distribution is to be used.

The larger the sample size, the more accurate the average values will be. Larger sample sizes also help researchers identify outliers in data and provide smaller margins of error.
