The thing is that we can calculate probabilities for the exact outcomes for discrete variables, whereas such thing is not possible for continuous variables, where we can only find probabilities of an interval of outcomes.
So, for instance, we can calculate probability that in 10 coin tosses, all 10 are heads (discrete variable), but we cannot find the probability that a person can arrive to work from his/her home in exactly 25 minutes (continuous variable).
Result:
We can find probabilities of exact outcomes for discrete variables, but not for continuous variables.
