The median is the number in the middle (or left of middle + right of middle /2) when the numbers are placed in order from smallest to largest.
The mode is the number which occurs the most often in your set of numbers.
Take the numbers 1,3,3,7,6,5,4 as our group.
To get the median we place the numbers in order: 1,3,3,4,5,6,7
Next we look at the middle number, which is in our case 4
The median is 4
The mode is the number with the most occurences: in our example it is 3
