Type I error is also called false positive i.e the rejection of a true H0.
Type II error is also called false negative i.e the non-rejection of a false H0.
In null hypothesis significance testing, detecting an effect or relationship in a statistical test when there isn't actually one in reality is referred to as type 1 error. This error occurs when true H0 is rejected which means that findings are significant but happen to occurred by chance.
Example of type 1 error is when a person is convicted who was innocent.
