When an electron present in the ground state absorbs energy it gets excited to the higher energy levels .
during the de excitation of excited electron, the electron falls in to different energy levels n= 1,2,3,4,5..................
the de excitation of electron from higher energy levels to energy level ( n=2) appears in the visible region and corresponds to Balmer series
if n=2 ........... Balmer series
n=1 ........ Lyman
n = 3............ paschen
n=5............. pfund
