y = k × 1 2 x
so 2xy=k
Given that when y=8, x=2 so we have:
2(2)(8)=k
k = 32
So our equation becomes:
y = 32 2 x
This is the same as:
y = 32 2 × 1 x
so y = 16 x

So when x=8
y = 16 x y = 16 8 = 2
