Consider 48y2+26y=35
48y2+26y35=0
y2+2648y3548=0
We now find 2 numbers, say p and q such that
pq=3548 and p+q=2648
And the equation becomes:
y2+py+qy3548=0
We take p=58,q=+76
Thus
y258y+76y3548=0
y(y58)+76(y+58)=0
(y58)(y+76)=0
By method of factorization we have
Either (y58)=0 or (y+76)=0
y=58,y=76
Hence the solutions are
y=58,76
