Slope of the given line m 1 = - 1 2
Slope of the perpendicular line m 2 = - 1 × 1 m 1
m 2 = - 1 × ( - 2 1 ) = 2
Then -
Let the equation of the required line be -
y=mx+c
Given the point (1,−5) we have to find the value of c
2 × 1 + c = - 5
c = - 5 - 2 = - 7
The required equation is y=2x−7
