Solve quadratic equation using the quadratic formula. ${x}^{2}+5x+2=0$

Raheem Donnelly

The quadratic formula used for quadratic equation $a{x}^{2}+bx+c=0$ is,
$x=-\frac{b±\sqrt{{b}^{2}-4ac}}{2a}$
Here, $a=1,b=5,c=2$
Substitute the given values in the quadratic formula as,
$x=\frac{-5±\sqrt{25-20}}{2}$
$x=\frac{-5±\sqrt{5}}{2}$
Hence, the solution for the equation is $x=\frac{-5+\sqrt{5}}{2}\phantom{\rule{1em}{0ex}}\text{and}\phantom{\rule{1em}{0ex}}x=\frac{-5-\sqrt{5}}{2}$
