To find:
The sum of two or more integers.
Given:
-4+2+(-5). zesponderyd

Approach:
To add three or more integers with the different signs, follow the steps below: -
(i) Using associative property of addition, add the integers from left to right.
(ii) Add the first two integers (using concept of same sign or different signs as given below).
(iii) Now similarly add the result to the next integer.
(iv) Repeat step (iii) if more integers are there else the result from step (iii) is the answer.
To add two integers with the same signs, follow the steps below: -
(i) Write the absolute values of the given integers.
(iii) Use their common sign as the sign of the sum.
To add two integers with the different signs, follow the steps below: -
(i) Write the absolute values of the given integers.
(ii) Find the larger absolute value.
(iii) Subtract the smaller absolute value from the larger absolute value.
(iv) Use the sign of the number with larger absolute value as the sign of the sum.
Calculation:
(i) Using associative property of addition, add the integers from left to right [(-4) + 2)] + (5).
(ii) Adding the first two integers (-4) + 2)
Writing absolute values of the given integers.
|-4|=4, |2|=2
The larger absolute value is 4.
Subtracting the smaller absolute value from the larger absolute value.
4-2=2
Since the sign of the number with larger absolute value is negative, hence the sum is also negative.
(-4) +2) =-2
(iii) Now add -2 + (-5)
Writing absolute values of the given integers.
|-2|=2, |-5|=5
2+5=7
Since the common sign is negative, hence the sum is also negative.
-2+(-5) = -7
