To convert standard notation into scientific notation: If the result is less than 1, shift the decimal point as far to the right as is necessary to leave precisely 1 non-zero digit to the left of the decimal point. This new version is known as the mantissa, and the exponent is equal to the inverse of how far the decimal point was moved. The new version becomes your mantissa, and the amount of places you moved the decimal point is your exponent if the value is greater than 1. If the value is greater than 1, move the decimal point to the left however many times are required to leave exactly 1 non-zero digit to the left of the decimal point. If the value is exactly 1, the mantissa and exponent will both be 1.0. If the value is exactly 0, the mantissa and exponent will both be 0. If the value is negative, prefix it with a minus sign and regard it as positive.
Your mantissa and exponent should be replaced in the general scientific form as follows: mantissa × 10 exponent
