x and y are irrational
verify x−y is rational or irrational.
\sqrt{2}=x=y ie x and y are irrational
x-y=\sqrt{2}-\sqrt{2}=0
which is rational.
. In other words, it's not always the case that the difference between two irrational numbers is also an irrational number.
