Which photon is more energetic red or violet and why?

The photon is the fundamental unit of the visible range of light. In certain dimensions, visible light behaves as a wave phenomenon, while in many others, it behaves more like a stream of slightly raised, submicroscopic particulates. From 400 nm at the violet end of the spectrum to 700 nm at the red end, light has a range of wavelengths. Compared to red light, violet light has a shorter wavelength. Because of this, violet has a higher frequency than red. The violet photon is therefore more powerful than the red photon.
