By AM-GM
c y c a b 3 + 4 = a + b + c + d 4 c y c ( a 4 a b 3 + 4 ) =
= 1 c y c b 3 a 4 ( b 3 2 + b 3 2 + 4 ) 1 b 3 a 4 3 ( b 3 2 ) 2 4 3 =
= 1 c y c b 3 a 12 b 2 = 1 1 12 ( a b + b c + c d + d a ) =
= 1 1 12 ( a + c ) ( b + d ) 1 ( a + b + c + d 2 ) 2 12 = 1 1 3 = 2 3 .
For ( a , b , c , d ) ( 2 , 2 , 0 , 0 ) we see that S 2 3 ,which says that 2 3 is infimum
and the minimum does not exist.
