In simple random sampling, the samples are chosen at random from the whole population. In cluster random sampling, the population is divided into separate groups (clusters). Then a random sample of clusters would be selected from the population. In stratified random sampling, the population is divided into sub-groups. Then, from each sub-group, random samples would be selected. In Systematic random sampling, every kth unit would be selected as sample.
In this scenario, the sub-groups are the dorms of the university. From each dorm, 20 people were selected as sample. Thus, the type of sampling method used is stratified random sampling.
