The differential equation
x 2 y - 3 x y + 5 y = 0 is a linear homogeneous differential equation.
Proposing
y = c 0 x α and substituting
( α ( α - 4 ) + 5 ) c 0 x α = 0 and solving for α
α ( α - 4 ) + 5 = ( α - 2 + i ) ( α - 2 - i )
then
y = x 2 ( c 1 x i + c 2 x - i )
but x = e log e x and x ± i = e ± i log e x
now according to
e i z = cos z + i sin z we have the general solution.
y = x 2 ( C 1 sin ( log e x ) + C 2 cos ( log e x ) )
