The average is the total divided by the count. The average rate of change is the total distance traveled divided by the amount of time. When you take calculus you will see that average rate over an interval is different from instantaneous rate at a point in time.

Calculate an average or typical time. If I would just use the median (or other "normal" types of calculating an average), for example 23 : 59 and 00 : 01 would yield 12 : 00 when it should 00 : 00. Is there a better method?

Is it possible to calculate the regular average of a sequence of numbers when i dont know everything of the sequence, but just everytime i get a new number i know the total count of numbers and the average for the numbers 1.
for example: 2 , 3 , 10 the average is of course: 5
but in the last step to calculate i only have access to the previous average of 2 and 3 : 2.5 the next number: 10 and the count of numbers: 3
if this is possible, how?

If we have a 3 × 3 matrix of information where the row totals describe the total goods produced by a particular company and the column totals provide the total for a particular type of good for all companies how would I create a weighted average that tells me the average percentage Good A takes up, out of all production, for all companies? Is it necessary to weigh by company if the total number of products produced is, say, 10 , 50, and 20?
