The set of equations 2 x + y + z = 4 ,   2 x y z = 1 and 2 x y + z = 3 has to be solved for x, y and z.
Isolate y from 2 x + y + z = 4 ,   y = 4 2 x z
Substitute 2 x 4 + 2 x + z z = 1 4 x = 5 x = 5 4 y = 4 2 5 4 z y = 1.5 z
Substitute 2.5 1.5 + z + z = 3 2 z = 2 z = 1 y = 1.5 z = 1.5 1 = 0.5
