Each segment of the loop experiences a magnetic force and the net force is given by
F n e t = I B sin θ d l...(1)
We integrate over the radius of the loop and equation (1) after integration will be
F n e t = I B ( 2 π R ) sin θ...(2)
The net force depends on the current on the loop as shown by equation (2), therefore, the current reversed when the magnet bar is reversed. Hence, the net force is reversed
If the field were uniform at θ = 0, the net force will be zero as sin 0 = 0
Result:
The net force reversed as the current reversed and equals zero at θ = 0
