Would a 100%-efficient engine violate the first law of thermodynamics? What about a workless refrigerator.
Solution:
it is not possible to make 100% efficient heat engine, but if it is possible then doesn't violate first law of thermodynamics. Because first law of thermodynamics only tells about conservation of energy which means we completly convert one form of energy into another form without any loss of energy.
A workless refrigerator is a type of refrigerator which works without taking any energy from outside. But this type of refrigerator is not possible because it violets second law of thermodynamics. By which heat only flow spontaneously from higher temperature reservoir to lower temperature reservoir. To flow heat from low temperature reservoir to higher temperature reservoir we need to do work upon it.
