Given that the larger number is x and the smaller number is y .
Also given that the sum of the two numbers is 88.
Therefore $⇒x+y=88$
The difference of the two numbers is 48.
Therefore $x-y=48$
$x+y=88\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}x-y=48\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}2x=136⇒x=68$
Therefore the larger number is 68
Putting the value of x in equations we get,
