Frequency is how quickly the medium is vibrating (in cycles per second). That won't change.
But the speed it can travel through the new medium changes, so the distance it moves during one cycle of vibration will also change. That distance is called the wavelength.

On December 26, 2004, a great earthquake occurred off the coast of Sumatra and triggered immense waves (tsunami) that killed some 200,000 people. Satellites observing these waves from space measured 800 km from one wave crest to the next and a period between waves of 10 hour. What was the speed of these waves in m/s and in km/h. Does your answer help you understand why the waves caused such devastation?

A certain microphone placed in the ocean is sensitive to sounds emitted by dolphins. Io produce a Usable signal, sound waves striking the microphone must have a decibel level of 10 dB. If dolphins emit sound waves with a power of 0.050 W, how far can a dolphin be from the microphone and still be heard? (Assume the sound waves propagate spherically, and disregard absorption of the sound waves)

Two loudspeakers emit sound waves along the x-axis. Ihe sound has maximum intensity when the speakers are 20 cm apart The sound intensity decreases as the distance between the speakers is increased, reaching zero at a separation of 30 cm. a What is the wavelength of the sound? b. If the distance between the speakers continues to increase, at what separation will the sound intensity again be a maximum?

Sound level L P in units of decibles (dB)is determined by:
L P = 20 log 10 ( P P 0 )
where p is the sound pressure of the sound, and p 0 = 20 10 6 P a is a reference sound pressure (the sound pressure when L P = 0 d B). Determine the sound pressure of 90 dB noise (noisegenerated by a passing truck). By how many times the soundpressure of the truck is larger (louder) than the sound pressureduring normal conversation where the loudness is 65 dB?
