to obtain the first 5 terms substitute n=1,2,3,4,5 into a n
a 1 = ( 3 × 1 ) + 1 = 3 + 1 = 4
a 2 = ( 3 × 2 ) + 1 = 6 + 1 = 7
a 3 = ( 3 × 3 ) + 1 = 9 + 1 = 10
a 4 = ( 3 × 4 ) + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13
a 5 = ( 3 × 5 ) + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16
