Let the cost of one Apple pie be x and one lemon meringue pie be y.
7 x + 4 y = 80
And
6 x + 5 y = 94
Multiply equation by 5, to get
35 x + 20 y = 400 24 x + 20 y = 376
Subtracting equation
11 x = 400 376 11 x = 24 x = 24 11 x = 2.18
Now substitute the value of x in the equation, to get
7 ( 24 11 ) + 4 y = 80 4 y = 80 168 11 4 y = 880 168 11 4 y = 712 11 y = 712 44 y = 178 11 y = 16.18
Hence the cost of one Apple pie is 2.18 and one lemon meringue pie is 16.18.
