Susan has 600 feet of fencing to use in making a yard for hernew puppy. The yard she has planned has a length that is 75 feetless than twice the width. What ae the dimensions of theyard. The answer that I come up with is Length -75 (W) = yard150-75 (4) = 4x150 Length=4, Yard= 150 So I don't know if this is right or not.

The length of the fence is the perimeter of the yard, i.e.,twice the length plus twice the width.
Let w = width. Then thelength is 2w - 75.
So the perimeter is 2(2w - 75) + 2w = 600.
Simplifying, 4w - 150 + 2w = 600, or 6w = 750 or w = 125 ft.
Then the length is 2*125 - 75 = 175.
The yard is 175 feet long by 125feet wide.
