The decibel scale:
β = ( 10 d B ) log I I 0
β sound intensity level, I intensity of sound wave,
I 0 = 10 12 W / m 2 the reference intensity.
a) β = ( 10 d b ) log I I 0 = ( 10 d B ) log 3 × 10 6 W / m 2 10 12 W / m 2 = 65 d B
b) β = ( 10 d B ) log I I 0 = ( 10 d B ) log 3 × 10 2 W / m 2 10 12 W / m 2 = 105 d B
Result:
a) 65dB
b) 105dB
