According to question,
Angle of diffraction for first dark fringe = angle of interference form order of fringes
θ diffraction = θ interference sin θ diffraction = sin θ interference λ w = m λ d m = d w
Let's plug all values
m = 0.5 m m 0.4 m m = 12.5 12 (for integral part only)
This is the number of fringes due to interference on one side and the same number on fringes would happen on other side and one fringe on the central part on the screen.
Thus, total number of fringes
N=12(for one side) + 12 (for other side) + 1 (central) = 25
