Validity in research methodology refers to the range to which a test measures what it claims to measure.
There are six types of validity:
1. Construct validity: construct validity ensures to match the way of measurement to what needs (construct) to be quantify. For instance, if a questioner is developed to diagnose depression then it has to keep in mind to develop a questioner measuring the construct of depression not any other constructs like self-esteem or mood.
2. Content validity: content validity measures all the perspectives of the construct. For example, a questioner is developed for parenting style will measure all the types of parenting style.
3. Criterion validity: it evaluates the correlation between the results of the evaluation and the results of criterion evaluation.
4. Face validity: it ensures the construct to be valid at the beginning.
5. External validity: it refers to how well the result of the research is to apply to other research.
6. Statistical validity: this validity measures the accuracy and reliability of results gained from the sample size.
Above all the given options, construct validity is the correct option, as if the tool does not predict any qualities as needed for future qualities means that the questioner or tool does not measures what it has to measure and does not quantify the measure of construct.
