The sample can be drawn from population in different ways. Some of the basic sampling methods are simple random sampling, systematic sampling, cluster sampling, stratified sampling etcetera.
When the sample is drawn by selecting the elements from the population randomly and each element has equal chance to be selected, then it is called simple random sampling.
In systematic sampling, the elements of the sample is selected from the population in a pattern. For example every 3rd element of the population is selected for sample.
In cluster sampling the population is divided into different groups called clusters and one of the cluster is selected randomly. In stratified sampling the population has different groups or categories which is called strata. The sample is made by selecting the elements from each strata randomly and in proportion of number of elements in each strata.
The slips are identical so the probability of selecting a student from 50 slips will be 1 2 . So the chance of selecting each student is equal and there is no biasing in selection.
As the chance of selecting each element is equal and the selection is made randomly from the population, it is simple random sampling and the sample is simple random sample.
This cannot be a systematic sampling as there is no patter for selection. There is no clusters in the population so this is also not a cluster sampling and there is no strata in the population thus it is also not a stratified sampling.
So the sample is simple random sample.
