External validity is related to concept of control. External validity is related to case control and the population which selected for study. It is also related to the case control of the study. The external study gives warranty of assessment. External validity is related to the generalization of findings of one study on other population, people, settings, places, situation etc. In other words it is said that you can apply your findings in broad situation. The aim of a research study is to generalize the knowlege in the real worlkd .
If a research study do not have high external validity, you do not apply or generalize the findings on large population.
There are different type of external validity :
- The population validity
- The ecological validity
There are some threat in external validity such as:
- Sampling bias
- Experimenter effect
- Hawthorne effect
- Testing effect
- Situation effect
