Sound waves are compression waves in air (and in other materials, including things like steel and water). They are longitudinal, not transverse, and they require a material to move in. They are waves of successive compressions and rarefactions.
Electromagnetic waves are transverse, and made up of electric and magnetic fields. They do not require a material to travel in - this is how light from distant stars travels to us through space.
Both kinds of waves carry energy from one place to another and have a wavelength, frequency and velocity. The velocity of sound waves is much lower than that of electromagnetic waves.
