while playing around with my equations, i found that the following has to hold for my universe to be consistent: \lim_(N -> oo) sum_(i=1)^(N)(1)/((N)/(1-epsilon)-i)->log[(1)/(epsilon)] for 0<epsilon<1 playing with numerical implementations in mathematica seem to support this by "experiment", but i just don't see why. Your limit can be seen as a Riemann sum.
lim N i = 1 N 1 N 1 ϵ i = lim N i = 1 N 1 N 1 1 1 ϵ i N = 0 1 1 1 1 ϵ t d t = log ( 1 1 ϵ t ) | 0 1 = log 1 1 ϵ log ( 1 1 ϵ 1 ) = log ( 1 ϵ ) log ( ϵ 1 ϵ ) = log ϵ = log 1 ϵ .
