X/5 -2 = 3/5
First step is to move the -2 to the right side
x/5 - 2 +2 = 3/5 +2
x/5 = 2 3/5
I like to change to fraction so 2 3/5 = 13/5
x/5 = 13/5
now mulitply both sides by 5
x/5 times 5 = 13/5 times 5
the 5's cancel on both sides and you are left with
x=13
check is 13/5 - 2 = 3/5
which is 2 3/5 - 2 = 3/5 which is true
