P = probability
( A ) = event A (In this case it rains the first day)
( B ) = event B (In this case it rains the second day)
P ( A B ) = probability that both will occur
P ( A B ) = P ( A ) × P ( B )
The probability that both will occur equals the probability that A will occur time the probability that B will occur. Thus
P ( A B ) = 0.3 × 0.4
0.3 × 0.4 = 0.12   or   12 %

So 30 % × 40 % = 12 %
