x = r \cos θ

x^{2} + y^{2} = r^{2} (\cos^{2} θ + \sin^{2} θ) = r^{2}

x = r \sin θ

put these in the

x^{2} + y^{2} - 4 a x = 0

r^{2} - 4 a r \cos θ = 0

r (r - 4 a \cos θ) = 0

r=0

r = 4 a \cos θ
